James V. (“Jimmy,” “Injun”) DiFiore, a lifelong resident of Flournoy Street in the Taylor Street community, passed away June 22 at age 84.
Mr. Di Fiore was born Feb. 16, 1937. He was the beloved husband of the late Antoinette “Toni” (nee Arpino) and loving brother of Carmella “Peachy” Basile.
A die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, Mr. DiFiore proudly served the City of Chicago for more than 30 years in the Department of Streets and Sanitation. He was a lifelong parishioner of the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii, where he and his late wife spent countless hours dedicated to volunteering for the St. Joseph’s Table.
“Jimmy loved his neighborhood, family, and many friends,” said his nephew, Vincent Arpino, DDS.
Services were held at the Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii, led by the Rev. Richard Fragomeni. Donations can be made to the shrine in Mr. DiFiore’s name.
